Sanlorenzo returns to FuoriSalone during Milano Design Week 2023 with La Macchina Impossibile, an installation showcased within the INTERNI Design Re-Evolution exhibition at the University of Milan. Designed by Piero Lissoni, the project offers a poetic yet rigorous interpretation of the shipyard’s commitment to developing advanced technological solutions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of yachting. Set at the centre of the 18th-century courtyard, the large metal sculpture evokes the precision and artisanal care of a yacht: a complex mechanism of propellers and serrated wheels rests on a backlit platform and was enveloped in a light vapour recalling the turbine effect of a Fuel Cell system. The installation showcases the hydrogen technology developed by Sanlorenzo in collaboration with Siemens Energy, based on Reformer Fuel Cell modules powered by green methanol, first introduced in 2024 on the 50Steel Almax. With La Macchina Impossibile, Sanlorenzo reaffirms its role as a pioneer in sustainable innovation, marking a decisive step towards carbon-neutral power generation for the future of yachting.
